Your California driving record, sometimes called an MVR, is a record
of your driving history kept by the California Department of Motor
Vehicles. The DMV records tickets and accidents as well as the status
of your license. Because California driving records sometimes have
clerical errors on them, it's a good idea to request your MVR for your
own review every now and then. However, the DMV is not the only entity
with access to your California driving record. Your insurance company
has access to the report, as do current and potential employers. So,
it's also a good idea to request a copy of your California driving
record if you plan on shopping around for insurance or getting a new
job. That way, you can get any errors corrected before they cause
problems.
